My 10-year-old and I have been choosing her birthday themes in a nonconventional way for the last few years, and it has had the best results! This year, we went with a honey bee party theme!
We walk through a store and choose two items to create a new theme.
A previous year we did pineapples and flamingos. This year it all started with a flower sticker!
A floral brunch for her bee-day was born. And so, it became my mission to pull it together!
I usually like to start my thought process with food and fun. So I created a honey bee and flower theme from a wall decal sticker, and began working on the food table.
It was a brunch party for a breakfast-loving girl, so we focused primarily on breakfast foods.
Muffins, cinnamon rolls, bagels, fruit, cereal, and donuts were on the menu. Because who doesn’t love sugar in the morning? 😅 The girls loved it!
So onto the menu and activity planning.
The kids enjoyed brunch, then used that sugar-fueled energy to complete a tie-dye craft!
The tie-dye craft was set up with a beige tub to match the aesthetic (this kitty litter box turned out to be perfect!) and a silver slotted grate.
Paper towels in the bottom of the bin caught any excess liquid, and the grate helped to hold the shirt on top for easy access!
Under the shirts and personalized bees were a rain poncho, gloves, and a shoestring for the craft. Aesthetically packaged, of course 😉
All of the colors were displayed on the table for the girls to create their design!
I pulled in the floral element with a gold-filled vase at the center of the table, then added a honey stirrer and a bee on top!
The milk container, hand sanitizer, and the gift sign display the stickers that started it all.
I cut flowers, leaves, and bees on my Cricut out of card stock. Then I placed them strategically throughout the party to tie in the honey bee theme!
I made the honeycomb backdrop with popsicle sticks. Yes, popscicle sticks! I printed the shape for one hexagon, glued them together, then glued the hexagons to each other in a random pattern.
And tada! A honeycomb!
The bee hives were created from a flower pot, a small clear bowl and jute rope. And the ’10’ and ‘Happy B-Day’ balloons came from Dollar Tree!
There is so much DIY potential from that store!
I added pink flowers here and there and some gold accents to bring it all together.
Most of the plastic ware I used can be found in the catering section of the Dollar Tree.
The others I had on hand. (What can I say, I throw a lot of parties 🤪)
The girls had a great time, and we had another successful and unique theme in the books!
